What is Private Duty Nursing?

Private Duty Nursing (PDN) is skilled hourly care provided by an RN or LVN. In coordination with the patient’s family and as ordered by a physician, care is delivered one on one in the comfort of the patient’s home for periods of 8-12 hours per day. Depending on their diagnosis and medical needs, most patients can qualify for 40 hours to 168 hours per week of PDN.

Private Duty Nursing services include but are not limited to:

• Case Management
• Care Coordination
• Medication Administration
• Tracheostomy care
• Ventilator Management
• Feeding tubes
• Developmental Disabilities

Coverage and Benefits for PDN
Private Duty Nursing is a benefit of Medicaid Star Kids. Adults with Medicaid who are enrolled in Medicaid Star Plus may access similar benefits after qualifying for the Star Plus Waiver upgrade for continuous skilled nursing. Many Commercial Insurance policies have a benefit for PDN which can be accessed pending your policy coverage guidelines. • Assist with toileting
• Monitoring Vital signs
• Assist with mobility
• Prepare and serve meals
• Drive to appointments
• Medication reminders

What is Personal Care Services?
Personal Care Services is care delivered by a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) in the comfort of home. As our loved one’s age, they may need some support to keep them safe and thriving at home.
PCS can be tailored to meet individual needs, from everyday activities like grooming and meal preparation to companionship and help with transportation. PCS client’s may receive case management and have access to a Registered Nurse 24 hours a day.

Companion Care:

• Laundry
• Grocery shopping
• Household chores
• Activities/engagement
